- What is IPS System and why IPS system is used?
IPS system is used to transfer power from input to output without direct connection between these two. This system is preferred over standard TN Earthed supply system which is normally used in residential or commercial areas. There are many methods of systems isolation like physical power supply isolation such as dielectric materials or air gap . Another method of electrical isolation is achieved by using a transformer. We can also use opto-coupler for isolation. Here we will study IPS achieved by using transformer.
- Why IPS sytem is used?
In order to increase safety and prevent passage of dangerous voltage in event of fault and failure of electrical system , we use IPS system. Normally we use this sytem in hospitals to protect patients, staff and other medical facilities. As per international standards , IPS to be used where electrical connections are provided to medial equipment or cardiac operation rooms where operations are performed.
